Summary


We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Band 3 Senior Pharmacy Assistant in Dispensing Services to support our Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians within our busy Pharmacy Department. Amongst other things, you will be required to dispense medicines to outpatients and inpatients, organise and maintain medicine supplies within the dispensary, resolve stock issues in line with departmental procedures, and provide general pharmacy dispensary support including reception and administrative duties.

Experience of hospital or retail pharmacy would be an advantage. You should have an NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services, or an equivalent GPhC approved qualification which includes dispensing medicines to patients and be willing to undergo additional local training in dispensing practice. You will also have experience of providing good customer service to the public and be able to work carefully, accurately, and quickly in a busy environment.

• Dispenses medicines to outpatients and inpatients
• Ensures good housekeeping in the dispensary by keeping benches and baskets clear of drugs no longer required.
• Organises and maintains medicine supplies within the dispensary.
• Resolution of stock issues according to departmental procedures.
• Provide a customer focused reception and undertake all related administrative duties
• Deal with enquiries from patients and healthcare staff.
• Undertakes related clerical duties.
• Training & Supervision:
• Dispensing and patient counselling.
• Provide a top up service of stock items to wards and departments where required.
• Cover reception when required
• Competent in the use of the automated dispensing equipment and resolves operational issues.
