Summary

Grounds Operative
Up to £28K
Hillingdon
Monday to Friday from 7am-3pm

Our prestigious client based in Hillingdon are currently recruiting for a Grounds Operative. They have 11 acres that they require
to be maintained to a high standard at all times.

KEY RESPOBSIBILITIES
• Undertaking routine grounds maintenance work of playing surfaces and landscapes as detailed in work schedules,
job tickets or as directed by supervisor.
• Undertaking all preparatory and cultivation work to maintain safe quality playing surfaces
• Setting up sports pitches or amenity surfaces. Maintaining the surrounding areas and carry out general duties.
• Undertaking minor repair and landscaping work.
• Ensure irrigation and drainage systems are maintained.
• The safe operation of equipment and machinery used in grounds maintenance such as hedge cutters, strimmer’s and
• ride-on mowers.
• Inform the supervisor or where appropriate, take corrective action on mechanical defects or breakdown of equipment.
• Executing duties in the correct manner and completing the assigned workload.
• Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with managers, colleagues, and end users.
• Ensuring the work area is kept clean, tidy, and secure at all times.
• Assisting in the upkeep of hedgerows and specimen trees.
• Attending meetings, seminars and courses as required by the Grounds Supervisor.

These are the general duties of the role; however, the post holder will be expected to assist in other duties within the department
as necessary, in particular, at times of heavy workload, sickness and staff absences commensurate with the post holders
level of responsibility.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Essential
• At least 1 year's experience of working in a Grounds and Gardens environment, as well as sports field maintenance (natural and artificial).
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Full clean drivers’ licence
• A fully enhanced DBS check is required.
Desirable
• Trade qualified person trained to City & Guilds levels or equivalent.
• Experience working in the education sector.
Competencies
• Proactive, self-motivated individual with ability to manage own workload and that of others.
• Proven leadership and management skills and to have successfully led multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to work under pressure, prioritise and meet tight deadlines.
• Flexible approach to tasks
