The Service Desk Team Leader is responsible for providing first line supervision of the Service Desk Operators & Clerks; the successful applicant will be required to work across the department to maintain service delivery in accordance with the Trust and Client Organisation Standing Financial Instructions, NHS Terms and Conditions of Service, Statutory Legislation, Pension Legislation, Contract & Service Level Agreements and Internal Office Procedures.

The successful applicant will work as part of the Service Desk Team ensuring that our client’s requirements are met as the first point of call of ELFS Payroll. They would be expected to manage, plan and organise the teams general day-to-day and reallocate workforce if necessary. You will also be required to work independently, able to use your own initiative to resolve any problems arising and communicate solutions effectively.

ELFS Business Services is a business division of Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a leading provider in NHS Payroll Services, we combine best practice of shared service solution design with our extensive knowledge and experience in delivering NHS Payroll Services at a cost-effective price. Our payroll services are successfully delivered to over 100,000 NHS employees across 13 large NHS Trust/ICBs throughout the country every month, including weekly payrolls, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time.

Established in 2002, ELFS is a proven NHS owned Shared Service solution providing Financial and Payroll services to thirty-four NHS organisations and one CIC throughout the country from its Head Office based in Darwen, Lancashire with a satellite unit based at St James House in Salford.

Our payroll department provides a comprehensive Payroll, Pensions, Expenses and Service desk to our clients. The post is based at our head office in Darwen, just off Junction 4 of the M65. We operate hybrid working giving you the flexibility to work from home as well as in the office.

As part of this role, you will be responsible for first line support and resolution of technical payroll queries as part of the Service Desk and sharing this knowledge across the Service desk team.

You will monitor the telephone support provided to the Client Employees, whilst maintaining a strong working relationship with all our nationwide Trusts & internally to ensure our focus of achieving a high level of customer satisfaction is consistently adhered to.

Taking control of departmental Training & Development and helping to train your peers alongside the management of your supervisor, is also required.
