Summary


The ELFS Payroll Service operator is a vitally important role to the NHS workforce, by helping to ensure they are paid correctly. We want someone proactive to join our very busy team to help ensure we process salary payments accurately and on time.

It's fair to say this job is varied and will keep you on your toes. You'll support the Payroll Services Department by receiving and answering queries from our nationwide payroll client base. Our second line support team will be available to support, investigate and respond to more complex issues.

As part of this role, you will engage with a range of the NHS workforce through various channels including telephone, email and self-service requests, excellent customer service is one of the key qualities in our team.

Ensuring excellent customer service is a key driver in this role, your input will have a major influence on each employee experience.

Using our computerised systems, you'll manage and process a wide range of pay affecting data, support will be available to assist you with prioritising your work and developing your potential.

We do everything as a team, so you will help with the development and implementation of new initiatives within the service and the wider Client base

ELFS Shared Services is a business division of Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a leading provider in NHS Payroll Services, we combine best practice of shared services solution design with our extensive knowledge and experience in delivering NHS Payroll Services at a cost-effective price. Our payroll services are successfully delivered providing over 100,000 payslips per month across 13 large NHS Trust/ICBs throughout the country in addition to weekly payrolls, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time.

Established in 2002, ELFS is a proven NHS owned Shared Service solution providing Financial and Payroll services to thirty-four NHS client organisations and one CIC’s throughout the country from its Head office in Darwen, Lancashire with a satellite unit based at St James House, Salford.
Our payroll department provides a comprehensive Payroll, Pensions, Expenses and Service desk to our clients. The post is based at Viscount House, Commercial Way Darwen just off junction 4 of the M65.

The Service Desk Operator is responsible for providing front-line support to Payroll Client organisations. They will answer and respond to queries, both basic and complex, ensuring that all queries are logged in a timely manner. They will also assist departmental Team Leaders by sorting, processing and inputting of different requests on the relevant CRM system accurately and within specified deadlines.

In addition, the Service Desk Operator will maintain an effective working relationship with other members of the section and other officers of the Trust. They will also provide ad hoc administrative support organising incoming and outgoing post, filing manual time sheets & expense claims, and preparing filing documentation that require electronic scanning.

They will adopt a flexible work approach, which may involve assisting colleagues in covering for any absences and being available between the hours of 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday.

Finally, the Service Desk Operator will attend ELFS Payroll internal training sessions to develop a good knowledge of all communication and ESR relevant processes.

Overall, the Service Desk Operator is a responsible and varied role that requires a high level of attention to detail and customer service skills.
