Summary

Exciting changes are happening in the Children’s Occupational Therapy team! New pathways, new specialties and new opportunities lie ahead. Are you up for the challenge? Can you empower a child to achieve their dreams? If so, you are just what we are looking for.

We are looking for a therapist with a passion to make a difference to children and young people with diverse and complex needs. Ideally we are seeking a therapist with experience of, or looking to develop their interest in working with early years’ children and children with long term complex needs. However, we will be able to offer training and support to help the right candidate adapt and transfer your skills across pathways.

The Neurological and complex needs pathway focuses on functional outcomes for children 0-18 with long term conditions and involves the assessment of posture, equipment and adaptations as well as optimising functional developmental. This is a new post in the team with opportunity for leadership in developing the local service and working with service users to strengthen and develop the local service.

The Children’s Therapy Team in West Lancashire provides an excellent opportunity to work alongside dedicated professionals providing excellent high quality care to reduce the impact of disability to children and their families. You will become part of a team of occupational therapists, physiotherapists and speech and language therapists, who work closely with colleagues in health, education and social care to provide a genuinely child-centred service. We work in a variety of locations, including clinics, children’s own homes, nurseries and schools and are based at the Child Development Centre in Ormskirk.

We work with children and young people aged 0- 19 with well-developed and evidenced based pathways covering the needs of children with Long Term, Time Limited and Early Years related needs.

We can offer clinical and management supervision, specialist support by experienced senior staff, continuing professional development and specialist OT Forums. The Children’s Integrated Therapy Team has a strong network of Clinical Leads and a Professional Lead for Children’s OT. The successful candidate must be able to effectively manage their own time, and demonstrate excellent communication skills.

Flexible working packages will be considered.
