Summary

Your new company
Hays Recruitment are proud to be working in partnership with an Ofsted rated "Outstanding" secondary school in Winsford as they are looking for a motivated and reliable teaching assistant to support students with moderate to complex learning difficulties across all year groups. This is a temporary ongoing contract, meaning that it will last until the end of the academic year.

Your new role
In your new role as a Teaching Assistant at this school, you will be supporting students across years 7 - 11 with SEN, specifically moderate to complex learning disabilities. You will be required to support your new students on a 1:1 and group basis, offering intervention and booster sessions in core subjects, GCSE preparation for older year groups, assistance with numeracy, literacy, phonics and all other subjects as required. At times, some of your students may present behaviours that challenge. To try and prevent this, you will use de-escalation and distraction techniques to promote their engagement and positive behaviours. You may need to take the students to a breakout room to calm down and re-engage if behaviours escalate. You will be required to take a person-centred approach to education as each student has an individual EHCP. You will regularly liaise with the class teachers and SENCo on pupils' progress.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this role, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as referenceable experience supporting children or young people with complex needs, as well as:

  • An NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in supporting teaching and learning is advantageous but not essential
  • Previous experience working with learning difficulties/disabilities
  • A full enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to gain a full DBS

What you'll get in return
If you are successful with your application, you will receive the full support, dedication, and guidance of a DfE accredited recruitment consultant as well as a wide range of benefits, which include:

  • Free training
  • Long-term contract
  • Access to exclusive vacancies
  • Refer a Friend scheme
  • Full holiday entitlement
  • Highly competitive daily rate of pay
