Hays Recruitment are proud to be working with an Ofsted rated "Outstanding" specialist SEN school in Northwich as they require motivated and reliable Teaching Assistant's to support students across all year groups. This school supports students between the ages of 2 - 19 with a variety of complex needs including speech & language difficulties, learning difficulties and dual diagnosis. This is a long-term temporary contract.

Your new role
In your new role as a general SEN Teaching Assistant you will be supporting students across all year groups (EYFS to KS5) with a variety of complex and profound needs. You will support the students on a 1:1 and group basis, ensuring that they reach their full academic potential and to promote their engagement. You will offer intervention and booster sessions in core subjects, phonics, speech and language therapy, as well as working under the instruction of class teachers to support in other areas as required. You will effectively manage the behaviours of students by using distraction and de-escalation techniques during lessons as well as removing trigger points. If all else fails, you will be required to take students outside the classroom to give them time to calm down and reflect on their actions.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this position, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as previous refernceable experience supporting children and young people with complex needs, as well as:

  • An NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification is advantageous but not essential
  • Previous experience working with/supporting learning difficulties and/or speech and language difficulties
