Summary

Barts Health NHS Trust has a vision to be a high performing group of NHS hospitals, renowned for excellence and innovation and providing safe and compassionate care to our patients in east London and beyond.

Due to the promotion of the substantive post-holder, we have an exciting and unique opportunity for an experienced Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Dietitian, or Speech and Language Therapist to lead provision of the adult Musculoskeletal outpatient therapy services, and other Bart’s Health outpatient therapy services for the Tower Hamlets footprint. The post holder is responsible for the day to day managerial, operational, and professional delivery of the service and will advise on the strategic direction of the service. The role is responsible for ensuring these services provide safe, high quality, evidence based, and holistic management of patients, with the support of the wider MDT.

You will be joining a large, forward thinking and diverse team that spans across the whole patient pathway. This wider multi-disciplinary team comprises GPs, Secondary Care Consultants, nurse practitioners, MSK Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, and operational teams, as well as other members of the wider MDT.

The successful candidate will be supported to develop their leadership and operational management skills, and maintaining a clinical caseload within the service can be supported and is encouraged.

You will provide direct clinical supervision and operational line management across the clinical leads, with a core remit for secondary and primary care MSK, hand therapy, women’s health, persistent pain services and Head and Neck SLT Services, and be responsible for therapists and support staff alongside supporting professional leadership and networks. You will work closely with the Associate Director of Therapies for RLHMEH and Clinical Leads to create our future vision and priorities for therapy services to deliver compassionate patient care and excellent staff experience.

You will also be supported and work collaboratively with the Associate Director of Therapies for RLHMEH, other Heads of Therapies on other Bart’s Health sites, and the Group Director of AHPs to develop and implement a wider Trust therapies workforce strategy and new AHP strategic priorities, realising opportunities for workforce development, clinical effectiveness, research, and innovation. Across North East London (NEL), there are opportunities to work strategically and collaboratively within the wider footprint and new MSK network on the vision and future for MSK services to deliver improvements in joined up capability, capacity and musculoskeletal outcomes.
