Morrison Water Services is recruiting for a Lead Waste Water Engineer to work on our Yorkshire Water and United Utilities contract in Leeds
As the Lead Waste Water Engineer you will be part of our Engineering Services Teams who are responsible for design
The lead designer will be part of the design team which covers the investigation and detail design of
clean and waste water network, civil engineering and other projects principally, but not wholly,
related to the water industry.
The lead designer will be responsible to lead, manage and co-ordinate all activities and tasks within
the scheme to ensure design within pre-tender, investigation, design, construction and completion
stages are completed to programme.


The lead design must ensure that all designs are completed to CDM 2015 Regulation
As the Lead Waste Water Engineer your responsibilities will include:

- • Ensure 100% compliance with all CDM, Health & Safety, and environmental issues.
• Maximise advances in technology and implement where needed.
• Establish and oversee in-line with current corporate systems, documentation and controls
that comply with legislation on a company and industry standard.
• Ensure design progress meets construction programme.
• Liaise internally with departments, client and third parties to ensure projects are designed
using the most cost effective method available and in a timely manner.
MUS-RR-002 Lead Designer R+R
• Ensure design staff produce accurate Statutory Notices for private land/Easements in
conjunction with the client’s specification / requirements for dealing with private land.
• Ensure that at any Outperformance opportunity are actively carried out within the stages of
Feasibility / Design / Detail Design, Delivery and completion.
• Deputise for the Design Manager as and when required.
• Ensure daily / weekly audit of drawings, specifications, reports to meet internal assurance
requirements.
• To be a mentor to the junior staff
• Providing reports/information to the Design Manager, Technical Manager and Project
Managers including clients.
• Provide advice / solutions to problems occurring through Feasibility / Investigation / Design /
Detail Design / Delivery / Completion stages in a timely manner
• Ensure that effective monitoring, supervision and guidance is provided to less experienced
staff as and when instructed by Design Manager or Senior Management.
• Ensure correct technique selection and design of the most efficient solution using the most
appropriate information from investigation, site survey, materials approved and safe
systems of work.
• Ensure that all Quality Assurance documentation is up to date throughout the end to end
process of Feasibility, Investigation, Design, Detail Design, Delivery and Completion
• Understand, embrace and promote internally and externally new ways of working
• To perform any other task not stated above required by the Design Manager or Senior
Management

Skills & Knowledge Requirements
• Educated to A levels or BTEC National
• Experience of using MS Office Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook
• Ability to demonstrate an initiative to work on their own and as part of a team
• Have a good knowledge of water hydraulic network systems undertaking, either through
previous experience or education
• Experience of using AutoCAD 2D / GIS Software
• Knowledge of CDM 2015 Regulation
• Awareness of Process Safety
