In this role, you will be part of a small team, ensuring airworthiness and engineering support to a mixed Fleet of 24 rotary and fixed wing aircraft. You will ensure compliance with the current regulations as relevant to the Organisations BCARA8-25 / BCAR A8-23 approval, Airworthiness Directives and Alert Service Bulletins and you will assist with optimising operational availability by dealing with issues as they arise and proactively seeing them through to a successful conclusion.
The role will require the individual to positively impact the efficient and effective operation of the aircraft in accordance with the highest level of safety standards and in line with Civil Aviation Authority regulations and the Continuing Airworthiness Management Exposition (CAME). They will act as the Technical Services Department airworthiness lead for new projects, upgrades, and aircraft modifications and will work with the NPAS project team, contract maintenance organisations and external Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMS) to ensure solutions are fit for purpose and regulatory compliant. Routine work will include scope of work production, work completion reviews, Aircraft Maintenance Program (AMP) reviews, maintenance oversight and technical reviews of documents and information pertaining to the NPAS Fleet.
The successful candidate be one of two Continuing Airworthiness Engineers and will work with the Head of Technical Services and NPAS Senior Leadership Team to seek continuous improvement in service quality, fully adopting the principles of the ‘Just Culture’ to review processes and to ensure compliance with new and existing legislative requirements. In addition the successful candidate will be capable of gaining CAA Form 4 Approval for National Airworthiness Review Certificate Extensions.





Key responsibilities:


Lead by example and behave in line with the Police Code of Ethics ensuring that the force values and behavioural expectations are clearly understood and considered by managers, officers and staff in their decision making and actions; reinforcing and influencing them through all interactions and processes.
Ensure the continued airworthiness and availability of NPAS aircraft, including Fixed Wing and any future Fleet Replacement aircraft through compliance with current regulation relevant to the Organisations BCAR A8-25 / BCAR A8-23 approval, Airworthiness Directives and Alert Service Bulletins.
Issue National Certification of Airworthiness (NARC) extensions and Maintenance Variations in line with CAME approvals and instructions and review and approve Aircraft Maintenance Programme (AMP’s) as required and in line with authorisations and CAME approvals to ensure continuing Airworthiness of NPAS fleet.
Oversee the maintenance operations within NPAS both in-house and out-sourced to ensure compliance with appropriate National and European Legislation. This includes preparing maintenance input scope of works, attending Critical Design Reviews for any changes to the Fleet as a subject matter expert.
Assit HoTs and NPAS project team with the continued airworthiness requirements of any future fleet during the procurement process, acceptance testing and transfer to business as usual.
Support and work within the NPAS Safety Management System, updating the occurance reporting tool as required and advising and assisting in Safety or Compliance investigations as requested.
Assist HoTS in research and the provision of information to ensure the NPAS Management Board are aware of best practice of continuing airworthiness management and appropriate performance information to ensure NPAS is compliant with responsibilities to its customer base and meets CAA requirements.
Liaise with stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and contractors to effectively achieve the organisations objectives in respect of the provision of an effective air support service.

MV Clearance
Qualifications:


Hold an Engineering Degree or hold/have previously held a CAA Part 66 Engineer Licence.
Has a full current UK/European Driving License.

Knowledge:


Appropriate knowledge and understanding of performance management

Experience:


Appropriate experience of staff management within a “matrix” environment, that is of team members who are both direct employees and employed by other organisation ensuring service delivery to rigid standards
Possess a minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a continuing airworthiness environment.
Experience of carrying out CAM duties within a large organisation, ideally in a related field, e.g. emergency services, armed forces.
Rotorcraft experience - desirable





Skills & Abilities:


Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)to prepare and present specialist reports to a range of NPAS Stakeholders.
Ability to use a range of software solutions.
Ability and flexibility to travel throughout England and Wales.
