Summary

Trust Registrar in Acute Medicine (Ealing)
2x Permanent roles - Starting Aug
2x Fixed Term roles (1x until Aug & 1x until Oct)

An exciting post is available for a Trust Grade Registrar to join our Acute Medical Unit at Ealing Hospital.

This is a great opportunity to join one of the largest and most successful integrated care NHS Trust’s in the UK, with a team of 9,000 dedicated staff.

As part of the restructuring of acute medical services at Ealing, we are looking for two candidates to join our team. Acute Medicine has a dynamic and enthusiastic team of acute physicians at Ealing. The department has a well-deserved reputation for excellence in teaching and training.

The Acute Medical Unit (AMU) is a busy 30-bedded ward, with two acute consultants based on the ward during normal working hours. Successful candidates will join our dynamic team of 5 acute consultants, and twelve acute junior doctors.

The post-holder will be expected to be able to provide cover to the unit and to the on-call rota and support the consultants in AMU in providing medical leadership. It is an excellent opportunity to develop experience in Acute Medicine.

All candidates should be eligible for registration with the GMC, and MRCP Part 2 or equivalent is essential.

For any informal queries please contact Dr Riaz Hosein atriazashmead.hosein@nhs.net.

Interviews to be held: TBC

The post-holder will be expected to be able to provide cover to the unit and support the consultants in AMU in providing medical leadership. They will also be expected to participate in the Medical On-Call rota, involving managing the medical take in the emergency department, and providing on-call ward cover.

This attracts 1B banding, and provides the opportunity to develop your leadership in providing out-of-hours cover across the acute hospital.

London North-West University Healthcare NHS Trust (LNWH) cares for the wonderfully diverse population of Brent, Ealing, Harrow and beyond.

Our team of more than 9,000 clinical and support staff serve a diverse population of almost one million people.

We run major acute services at:
• Northwick Park Hospital: home to one of the busiest emergency departments (A&E) in the country. The hospital provides a full range of services including the country’s top-rated hyper-acute stroke unit and one of only three hyper-acute rehabilitation units in the UK.
• St Mark’s Hospital: an internationally renowned specialist centre for bowel disease
• Ealing Hospital: a busy district general hospital providing a range of clinical services, as well as 24/7 emergency department and urgent care centre, and specialist care at Meadow House Hospice.
• Central Middlesex Hospital: our planned care site, hosting a range of surgical and outpatient services and collocated with an urgent care centre.

We are a university teaching NHS trust, in recognition of the important role we play in training clinicians of the future and bringing the benefits of research to the public.

(a) The successful candidates will work under the supervision of the AMU Consultants in the care of acute general medical inpatients, with the opportunity to participate in the Acute Medicine Take on call as well as work in Ambulatory Care as well as develop your procedural skills.

(b) The appointee will be expected to attend and actively participate in Departmental and other teaching sessions.

(c) It is expected that the appointee will assist with the teaching of undergraduate medical students attached to the firm and postgraduate doctors.

(d) The appointee is welcome to participate in Clinical Audit and clinical governance activities within the department of Acute Medicine.

(e) We will work to support you through your exams and application processes for further posts / training posts.
