Job Title Accounts Assistant (Sales Ledger)
Service Area Finance

Reporting to: Financial Controller

Purpose of job: To be an active part of the finance team, providing comprehensive financial support services across the whole of the Authority. To ensure all income is correctly billed and accounted for and all relevant bank receipts are correctly posted. To liaise with the business where necessary to investigate any discrepancies between operational systems and finance. To ensure all monies owed are collected to terms.
Support the implementation of new systems where appropriate
Hours – 35 hours per week (Hybrid working considered)

Principle Accountabilities

5. Maintain the Authority’s Sales Ledger
6. Daily invoicing of shipping, SOP invoices, credit/re-invoicing and cash batch weekly
7. Undertake credit control activities
8. Maintain financial records undertaking general filing as required
9. Prepare documentation needed for month-end reconciliation
10. Undertake account reconciliations month-end procedures
11. Analyse invoiced costs to nominal ledger cost centres
12. Provide cover for Purchase Ledger Accounts Assistant by maintaining the register of purchase orders and supplier invoices, payment of supplier invoices, data input, running payments and preparing pricing notes
13. Assist with other duties including bank reconciliations, bank payments, cash book entries, nominal postings, report writing, petty cash and general account reconciliations
14. Undertake other such duties as requested by your line manager.

Person specification
A professional Accounting qualification or relevant accounting experience gained from a similar environment in processing sales ledger and general accounting activities
