Summary

A unique opportunity has arisen in the Westminster South Community Mental Health Hub

We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapist (OT) who is committed to the development of occupational therapy within community mental health and has experience of working in a mental health setting.

Occupational therapy in CNWL is very fortunate in having a long-established professional structure and this includes an Allied Health Professional director, Trust-wide Professional Head of Occupational Therapy, Borough and specialist Head OTs. This has the huge benefit of ensuring representation of our profession at all levels - both strategically and operationally.

Westminster South CMHH is also a pilot site for Open Dialogue training for staff and will be implementing this new way of working alongside traditional models in 2023-2024.

Personal and professional development is a high priority for the profession and is underpinned by our OT Research & Development (R&D) strategy, R&D specialist groups and OT clinical networks. This enables us to invest in the development of our staff by providing excellent internal training as well as commissioning specialised external training and providing quality supervision. This ensures all our OTs reach their full potential at every stage of their career.

To provide high quality individual interventions and group work, using assessment tools and recovery principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate treatment. You will have a very small caseload of patients you will do short-term periods of OT-oriented work with, but the main focus is will be to continue developing the OT offering in the South Hub.

You will also play a key role in supporting the development of Westminster psychosocial therapies offer. You will work in partnership with other Therapists and senior Clinicians to facilitate groups and support service users allocated to step 1,2 and 3 of the Trusts psychosocial vision.

You will provide the multidisciplinary team (MDT) with an occupational therapy service and expertise; this will include individual and group work, assessment, intervention and evaluation in accordance with the Royal College of OT Code of Ethics.

You will need to have current registration with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC).

We understand the challenges facing our staff and offer flexi working to support a better work life balance.

The successful applicant will have contact with patients or service users. As an NHS Trust we strongly encourage and support vaccination as this remains the best way to protect yourself, your family, your colleagues and of course patients and service users when working on our healthcare settings.

The Westminster South Community Mental Health Hub has a supportive team structure and the Band 6 OT role is highly valued within the MDT. You will also be part of the wider OT team in Westminster as well as Trust-wide, which offers a wide range of training opportunities and diverse supportive clinical networks. The Westminster network is joint with Kensington & Chelsea and provides an opportunity to connect with OTs in other services i.e. acute, older adults, early intervention, and perinatal.

Why work with our team

An opportunity to work with a close-knit team who look out for one-another and promote wellbeing in the workplace through team lunches, away days, and regular social events.

You will be working in a team that prides itself on promoting innovation and working to the highest standards of clinical care as evidenced by the services on going Quality Improvement projects.

Commitment from the team to develop you as a practitioner by offering coaching, supervision, reflective practice and in-house development sessions.

The South Hub is situated centrally near Victoria Station and enjoys excellent transport links as well as proximity to local cafes, shops, and markets.

To offer specialist occupational therapy interventions for individuals who have identified occupational performance needs within the team, ensuring that all interventions amplify skills in self-management.
