Summary

About The Role
Morrison Energy Services is currently looking to recruit an M&E Site Manager/Principal Contractor's representative to work on our National Grid contracts in England & Wales.
You will be a part of our Electricity Transmission construction team who deliver National Grid and private generation companies 66kV to 400kV projects. This involves refurbishing existing, and building new substations including associated OHL works and HV cabling.
Reporting to a Construction Manager, you will coordinate and supervise construction activities on site from commencement through to final commissioning and completion, while acting as the principal site contact for the client.
MES Electricity Transmission are proud to be a key contractor to National Grid, delivering substation new builds, HV asset replacements, bay refurbishment works and protection upgrades/replacements across the UK, including engineering design, project management, HV procurement, HV cable installation, some overhead line (OHL) works, civil construction, commissioning, decommissioning and demolition.
As a Site Manager/Principal Contractor's representative, your responsibilities will include:

- Day to day management of site operatives, subcontractors and site work.
- Development and implementation of safety documentation including construction phase plans, site quality plans and risk assessments/method statements.
- Sensible monitoring performance of site operatives and subcontractors with respect to health and safety, quality and the environment.
- Identifying training requirements for site personnel.
- Ensuring full compliance with all Morrison Group procedures and current legislation.
- Client liaison whilst on site including client audits.
- Chairing weekly co-ordination meetings.
- Procurement of materials using computer-based systems.
- Planning and programming of current and future works i.e. rolling programmes.
- Notifying Construction/Project Managers of possible variations and keeping suitable contemporary records.
- Compilation of documents and as-built drawings for handover files.

Skills and knowledge requirements:

- An extensive knowledge of construction methodologies within the electricity transmission industry
- Competency to work in substations - 66kV to 400kV inclusive.
- Knowledge of NEC contracts.
- Knowledge of current legislation relating to health, safety and the environment.
- Cost/value reporting exposure.
- Skill in organising resources and establishing priorities.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to work within budget and to programme timescales.
- Ability to work within a team environment including clients, designers, H&S advisers, site staff, quantity surveyors and estimators.
- IT literate, specifically in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Full driving licence.
- Must be prepared to travel and work away at customer sites.

Candidates should preferably have the following qualifications:

- Qualified to a suitable level in Construction, Mechanical Engineering or an Electrical Engineering discipline.

- Previous, or current authorisation to National Grid TP 137.11, which includes requirements for the following:

- Understanding the causes and consequences of Impressed Voltage IV awareness certificate or equivalent
- Understanding the requirements of relevant UK health and safety legislation - in particular, the CDM Regulations
- CITB Site Managers Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS), NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate/IOSH Managing Safety certificate
- Understanding the general requirements of BS5975:2008 with regard to procedural control of Temporary Works
- Temporary Works Supervisor authorisation
- National Grid Competent Person Authorised
- Understanding of the general requirements of UK environmental and waste management legislation, EUSR certificate or equivalent
- Understanding of avoiding underground services, HSG47 certificate or equivalent
- Appropriate working knowledge of relevant current National Grid Transmission Procedures (TP)
- Working knowledge of the Principal Contractor/Contractor quality management procedures (specific MES training will be provided)
