Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and enthusiastic nurse to join a new Nursing Team at Bedford Hospital. We are looking for a reliable, motivated and enthusiastic Staff nurse to join Surgical Assessment Unit

A proven record and evidence of CPD would be an advantage.

The applicant will have energy, commitment and the desire to develop as a surgical nurse. The role involves clinical input ensuring that high quality standards are set out and to maintain a high standard of holistic, quality care within a multi-disciplinary setting.

The applicant will be expected to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills along with the ability to sensitively manage change.

The individual will also need to provide evidence of continuous professional development.

Act as a professional role model to junior staff and demonstrate leadership qualities.

Work with the ward manager and nursing team to develop and promote best nursing practice. Work as part of the ward team to assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care in line with best practice.

Maintain accurate and clear documentation of all nursing care and communication with the multidisciplinary team.

Communicate with patients and relatives in a sensitive manner, providing information regarding care and progress as required.

Liaise with the multidisciplinary team to ensure clinical care is optimised from admission to discharge.

The SAU assesses patients who have a confirmed or probable surgical condition. Patients are referred via their GP or are admitted via the Emergency Department. Depending on the clinical condition and / or are needs, the patient will either be assessed in the clinic or admitted to another ward.

The post-holder is responsible for direct clinical care for individual patients and groups of patients within their area of work. This includes the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care from admission to discharge.

The post holder will be required to work in rotation in all ward areas within the division of surgery and anaesthetics for clinical development or service needs. This includes allocation to the admission and discharge facility. The post holder will be required to work shifts throughout the 24hour period
