Summary


We are looking for passionate and motivated individuals to join our Maternity team as a Midwifery Support Worker, assisting the multi-professional team in the provision of excellent and safe care.

Due to an exciting period of change within our Trust, we have vacancies available within both the hospital and community setting.

Successful applicants will be enthusiastic and committed to working in partnership with women and their families. You will work alongside and independently to the midwifery team, and will be an advocate for supporting choice and exemplary care for women and families.

Our candidate will be a dynamic and professional individual who has excellent communication skills and is able to work effectively in a demanding clinical environment.

Maternity Support Workers (MSWs) support the Midwifery and Obstetric team in their day-to-day job, and work as part of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure a high standard of patient care is given.

You will receive skills and competency training to ensure you are able to provide safe and excellent care to women, newborns and their families.

Main duties of MSWs include, but are not limited to:
• Maternal and newborn observations
• Maternal and newborn blood glucose monitoring
• Feeding support, in line with baby friendly initiative
• Health promotion and education
• Venepuncture and cannulation
• Supporting midwives and members of the wider MDT
• Running organised clinics
• Having a sound knowledge of the trust policies and procedures
• Safeguarding women and babies
• A commitment to continued professional development including trust training and development package
