Summary

A Vacancy at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust.

Are you passionate about working with older people?

An opportunity has arisen for a senior Occupational Therapist to join our Older Persons Services Therapy team.

This is a rotational post with opportunities in the following areas across Poole, Bournemouth & Christchurch hospitals:
• Emergency Department (ED) & Same Day Emergency Care Unit (SDEC)
• Older Persons Assessment Unit (OPAU) (inpatients)
• Older Persons wards (inpatients)
• Older Persons outliers (inpatients)
• Christchurch Day Hospital – offering specialist clinics and community outreach (outpatients)

As well as currently undergoing huge transformations structurally as we merge Bournemouth and Poole hospitals together, University Hospitals Dorset bring exciting opportunities across acute and community sites. This is a fantastic opportunity where you will be encouraged and supported to develop extended skills and enhanced practice in frailty with our highly regarded, innovative and motivated older person’s team in the hospital. The post will allow you to experience and build skills, including working holistically across professional boundaries, service development, supporting and supervising junior staff and opportunities to work alongside a range of experienced professionals.

We are looking for an Occupational Therapist who is comfortable completing generic core therapy assessments but whom can also provide specialist Occupational Therapy interventions.  You will need to complete rapid and thorough assessments, be confident in clinically reasoned decision making, have excellent communication skills and work with various disciplines and departments to prevent unnecessary hospital admissions and support early discharge. We pride ourselves on our close links with the multi-disciplinary team and feel integrated working is an essential aspect for the post holder.

This post is available to clinicians with:
• A minimum of two years’ experience working at Band 5 level
• NHS experience
• Willing to participate in 7 day working on a rota basis
• Ability to drive, hold a clean drivers licence and have access to a car for work purposes

Previous applicants need not apply.
