Summary


12 month temporary, part time (22.5 hours per week)band 7 post with the Newcastle Paediatric Speech & Language Therapy Team.

The role is to co-ordinate the mainstream service for the East of the city ensuring staff are deployed in the most efficient way and to contribute to the development, monitoring and evaluation of pathways of care for children in Early Years. There is a requirement to line manage band 6 and 5 SLT’s and assistants. We require someone with highly specialist skills in early years and substantial experience in school, pre-school and clinic settings. You should be confident in co-ordinating the work of others and providing case management advice to less experienced staff. There is good support from the Early Years Lead, School Age Lead and from the whole team. There are opportunities for continuing professional development

• Assessment and management of complex children in mainstream settings
• Caseload management and assigning cases to colleagues
• Line management
• To contribute to the planning of appropriate intervention for the mainstream paediatric caseload
• To work with the Early Years and School Age Leads, and west Locality
Coordinator, to monitor and develop services
• To provide line management and supervision of less experienced SLTs andSLTAs including appraisal

• To be a highly specialist therapist for children with suspected Developmental Language Disorder, providing highly specialist assessment, diagnosis and intervention plans
• To provide line management to SLTs and SLTAs
• To provide case management supervision and support to less experienced SLTs
• To supervise the work of Specialist SLTs in the LEAPS specialist role
• To hold own caseload
