Summary


Due to expansion of Cancer Services within the Trust, Pharmacy have created a specialist post: Pharmacy Technician Cancer Services. If you are interested in developing your skills and becoming a specialist Pharmacy Technician within Cancer Services, this is the job for you.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, empathetic Pharmacy Technician. Our ideal candidate will be:
• Dedicated in helping us develop and deliver our vision for a patient-centred clinical cancer pharmacy service
• Someone with experience and a passion in this area of work in hospital pharmacy
• Committed to patient safety
• Excellent communication skills and enjoy working as part of a large multi-disciplinary team.

• You will also need to be friendly, approachable, adaptable, flexible, willing to learn new skills and be committed to continuous professional development.

You will be a pharmacy technician registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council Pharmacy Technician.This is a full time post and the post holder will be required to participate in the weekend working and late duties as per rota.

You will have opportunities to develop your general and specialist skills in providing a clinical cancer pharmacy service.

Job Summary:
• Provide a consistently highly specialist, patient-centred, pharmaceutical and medicines management service for all patients seen within the clinical chemotherapy services in line with Trust and national standards in order to meet clinical governance and regulatory requirements
• Provide technical support and assist in the day-to day operation of Pharmacy dispensary including, stock management and receiving, labelling, dispensing, counselling prescriptions.
• Provide advice to patients, representatives and healthcare professionals on all medication issues in order to achieve the best outcomes for the patients.
• Complete medicines reconciliations within a timely manner in order to meet NICE guidance
• Complete medicines reminder charts for every patient starting a new chemotherapy regimen.
• Participate in audits relating to medicines management.
