Summary


Applications are invited for a fellow post in Ophthalmology. This is a 10 PA post providing post-CCT level training for ophthalmic trainees/ ophthalmologists who wish to specialise in Medical Retina.

This post is based at St Pauls Eye Unit at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Appointments are on the basis of eight PAs (programmed activities) of direct clinical care and two of supporting professional activities. SPEU also collaborates between adult ophthalmology services and the paediatric ophthalmology unit at Alder Hey Hospital, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to this clinical collaboration.

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was created on 1 October 2019 following the merger of two adult acute Trusts, Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.

The post offers opportunities to contribute to clinical research in Medical Retina; there are on-going clinical trials in AMD, DR, Uveitis and inherited retinal diseases and a strong emphasis on active participation in weekly teaching and training activities and journal clubs.

If you are appointed you will share a continuing responsibility for the proper function of the Trust and will undertake administrative duties associated with this together with being a member of the Directorate of Ophthalmology, strengthening the ethos of collective responsibility for the organisation and provision of services which has been a feature of St Paul’s.
