Summary


Specialty Doctor in Emergency Department at North Manchester General Hospital.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Emergency Department Team at North Manchester General Hospital, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking to appoint a Specialty Doctor to complement our team and work in our Emergency department. We are currently the second best performing adults ED in Greater Manchester and the best performing at NWAS turnaround - this is testament to the current working practices at North Manchester. Our Middle Grades are also the first group in MFT to be able to self roster on the Health Roster system.

The Hospital is part of MFT, one of the largest Trusts in the region which includes, Trafford General Hospital, MRI, The Manchester Royal Eye Hospital and Manchester Childrens Hospital. It is the regional centre for Burns and Plastics, adult cystic fibrosis, heart and lung transplant and is a centre for ECMO CPR. It is also a teaching hospital for medical students from Manchester University

Specialty Doctor in Emergency Department:


1. The post holder will be clinically and educationally responsible to the Consultants in Emergency Medicine.

2. Appointees may be dedicated to the paediatric area depending on their experience.

The clinical duties will comprise:-
1. Active participation in the reception, initial diagnosis, investigation and treatment of patients attending the Emergency Department.
2. Where appropriate the post holder will refer them to:
• their general practitioner
• to the appropriate specialist team for continuation of hospital care
• to a clinic held within the Emergency Department
• to a clinic held within the hospital

3. Provide support and supervision for those at SHO, FY2 and FY1 grades within the Emergency Department, taking the form of advice regarding diagnosis and treatment, the post holder will supervise the junior medical staff’s performance of procedures appropriate to their level of experience.
