Summary

Senior Clinical / Counselling Psychologist – Vanguard Violence Reduction Project Lead Clinician

Waltham Forest CAMHS has an exciting vacancy for an experienced and enthusiastic HCPC Registered Clinical or Counselling Psychology candidate interested in applying Community Psychology principles and strategic skills as the Lead Clinician in our Vanguard Violence Reduction Project (VRP).

The Vanguard VRP is an innovative partnership project with Waltham Forest Local Authority, funded by NHS England. The project aims to build the capacity of community organisations working with some of the most vulnerable and socially disadvantaged young people in our borough. You will be the lead clinician in part of a small NELFT health team (Psychology and Speech and Language Therapy), delivering a clinical model in collaboration with our partnership agencies.

Vanguard VRP health team takes a consultation led approach, working alongside youth workers, community workers, functional family therapy practitioners and family support workers, ensuring that specialised health knowledge is shared in the community. We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about working with the professional network to come up with creative solutions to support children and adolescents for whom traditional health services do not meet their complex emotional and social needs. There are opportunities to co-produce new service models with our established community

As the Lead Clinician, you will be responsible for shaping, delivering and evaluating the Vanguard’s clinical model, and contributing to reporting and evidencing impact for NHS England. Ideally, you would have direct experience of working with young people who are at risk of violence, and who may have survived developmental trauma or trauma in later life. Significant post-qualification CAMHS or similar NHS experience is important, and experience working in community organisations or other “outside the clinic” environments is advantageous. You should have experience of service development and leadership and/or be enthusiastic about developing and expanding your operational management skills.

Clinical supervision will be provided by a NELFT Consultant Psychologist with experience in community psychology, and line management and leadership mentoring from the Assistant Director of Children’s Services in Waltham Forest. Additional operational leadership for the Vanguard VRP is provided from within Waltham Forest Local Authority. You will receive professional leadership as part of a large and friendly CAMHS psychology team made up of clinical and counselling psychologists, CBT therapists, Positive Behaviour Support practitioners and assistant psychologists. You will be part of a growing group of NELFT community psychologists working in child and adult services in Waltham Forest and the North East London region who take a trauma-informed approach in their work.
