Summary

Located in trendy South East London, 10 minutes-walk away from the pretty cafes and boutiques of Greenwich, the unit has a 19-bed Level 1 Highly Specialist Cognitive-Behavioural ward with and a Level 2 Neurorehabilitation ward with 18 beds. Both wards provide specialist treatment to patients with physical and cognitive impairments resulting from an acquired / traumatic brain injury. You will work as part of an enthusiastic, supportive, and experienced multidisciplinary team (neurology, neuropsychiatry, neuropsychology, nursing, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, social workers) ensuring effective delivery of a highly specialist Occupational Therapy service. The Blackheath Brain Injury Unit is a renowned centre for complex neurorehabilitation and is part of the Active Care Group Neuro Network (consisting of 25+ sites nationally) which has a focus on the use of clinical expertise, innovation, and technology to meet patients’ expectations of their rehabilitation goals. There is a strong ethos of patient-centred high-quality care which drives clinical and administrative decision-making. There have been exciting new renovations to the wards and value is placed on staff wellbeing. As part of our commitment to the continuing professional development of our team, we offer support and funding towards postgraduate training such as the PgCert in Sensory Integration. What you'll be working: Our standard working hours are 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. What you'll be doing: Lead and manage the Occupational Therapy team, ensuring effective delivery of the highly specialist Occupational Therapy service Work as an autonomous practitioner to plan and prioritise a complex clinical caseload Work closely with patients and their family/carers to encourage participation in the therapeutic process Provide supervision, teaching, and appraisal for junior occupational therapists, assistants, students and other members of the multi-disciplinary team Contribute to the planning, development, and evaluation of the Occupational Therapy service Develop Occupational therapy Treatment programmes in collaboration with patients, carers and other involved professionals (e.g. occupational therapy assistants, support workers) to be carried out as appropriate Participating in clinical audit, clinical risk and quality issues, including the management and reporting of incidents Ensure a high level of communication with internal and external stakeholders Participate in the process of positively supporting and inspiring colleagues within the service to improve standards and quality and to develop professional practice Keep people safe from harm and protect their human rights As a member of the senior management team, you will promote a culture of openness and responsiveness to the views of patients and relatives, a philosophy of person-centred care and recovery, and an ethos of positive learning from incidents within a high performing service.
