Summary


The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust is the world’s first Hospital dedicated to cancer diagnosis, treatment, research, and education. The Trust has a track record of high data quality and uses data in all aspects of delivering high quality care, including planning, performance monitoring, service improvements and research.

We have recently implemented a new digital health record (Epic), and a new data warehouse based in Microsoft Azure - the information team primarily use T-SQL and Qliksense built around a bespoke

data model. You will have the opportunity to help shape the informatics function to the needs of the Trust and to further refine the information systems to support this function.

We are looking for two highly experienced Information professionals to join and help lead our busy information department. One role is leading on Strategic Analysis, the other on Finance & Contracting, please see the job description for more information.

Each role will lead a small team in delivery of information analytics that support reporting, organisational strategy, and decision-making. These roles are pivotal to both the information team and the Trust as a whole, and an opportunity to help influence strategic decision making using high-quality information and presentation.

To provide line management responsibility for the team producing regular reports/ datasets required for mandatory internal and external reporting. This will include Commissioning reports, Mandated NHSE reporting/ datasets, KPIs and internal performance dashboards.

To be aware of all Trust business and commissioning rules and algorithms and to be the point of escalation for all Commissioner challenges relating to activity and income.

To ensure all Trust performance metrics are appropriately defined & sourced from Trust data. To oversee and contribute to the production of internal and external performance reporting, ensuring clear and accurate presentation and to provide analytical advice on interpretation of metrics.

Act as an advocate for the users of information in the development of new information reporting and to regularly assess that users are receiving the regular information required in the most efficient and appropriate format.

Maintain a good working overview of current ad-hoc requests and user needs, and through regular discussion with Information Manager, Information Development Manager and other assistant Information Managers ensure relevant and well-designed content is promoted to the Trust-wide BI portal.

Ensure the team database of ad-hoc queries is used to optimise workflow and to avoid duplication and reinvention. To assess all ad-hoc queries and to continually liaise with the Assistant Information Manager - Strategic Analysis to ensure appropriate information team resource is deployed to each request depending on subject matter, complexity, delivery method and timescale.
