Role Overview: As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the educational and personal development of students with SEND. Working closely with teaching staff and other professionals, you will provide tailored assistance to students to ensure they have equal access to learning opportunities and can reach their full potential.

Key Duties:

• Individualized Support: Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with SEND, assisting them with tasks and activities as directed by teaching staff.
• Classroom Assistance: Support the teacher in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment by helping to manage classroom behaviour and promoting student engagement.
• Resource Preparation: Assist in the preparation of teaching materials and resources, adapting them as necessary to meet the specific needs of students with SEND.
• Personal Care: Provide personal care and assistance to students with SEND, including toileting, feeding, and other daily tasks, in accordance with individual care plans.
• Progress Monitoring: Work collaboratively with teaching staff to monitor the progress of students with SEND, recording and reporting on their achievements and challenges.
• Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with parents, guardians, and other relevant stakeholders regarding the progress and well-being of students with SEND.
• Inclusion Support: Promote the inclusion of students with SEND in all aspects of school life, including extracurricular activities and social events.
• Training and Development: Participate in relevant training and professional development activities to enhance your skills and knowledge in supporting students with SEND.

• Adaptability: The ability to adapt teaching strategies and approaches to meet the diverse needs of students with different types of SEND.
• Teamwork: Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with teaching staff, parents, and external professionals.
• Resilience: The resilience to handle challenging situations and behaviours in a calm and professional manner, maintaining a positive and supportive attitude.
• Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities effectively, ensuring that the needs of students with SEND are met in a timely manner.
• Commitment to Inclusion: A commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion within the school community, and advocating for the rights of students with SEND.
• Relevant Qualifications: A relevant qualification in education, childcare, or special educational needs is desirable, although experience and enthusiasm for working with students with SEND will also be considered.
