Grounds Maintenance Operative
Based at our state-of-the-art head office and distribution centre on the outskirts of Preston, James Hall & Co. Ltd. have been
established for over 150 years proudly serving communities across the north of England as supplier and distributor to over 500
SPAR stores.

About the Role
Providing grounds maintenance services and caretaking duties across our extensive site and neighbouring fuel site to ensure it
remains clean, safe and attractive for employees, customers and visitors.
Here’s What You Can Expect to be Doing
* Maintaining the safety, cleanliness and operational standards of the external areas of the Bowland View Distribution Centre and
Bluebell Way Petrol Filling Station.
* Operating grounds maintenance machinery and vehicles for the purpose of transporting supplies and materials.
* Maintaining grounds keeping equipment (e.g. hand tools, power tools, salt spreaders, tractors etc.).
* Operating job related tools and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
* Cleaning landscaped areas, car parks, roof spaces, transport yards and loading bays.
* Performing caretaking duties e.g. cleaning, minor repairs, preventative maintenance and painting etc both internally and
externally.
* Salt spreading and snow removal to ensure car parks, pedestrian walkways and vehicle roadways are safe for vehicles and people.

* Self-motivated, reliable and a good team player.
* Take responsibility for your own health and safety and that of your colleagues, visitors, customers and employees who may be
affected by your activity.
* Consistently work in accordance with the Company health and safety policies and procedures.
* Willingness to work in an outside environment in all weathers.
* Able to complete manual work as described above.
* Full, clean UK driving licence.
* Flexibility in working time, including overtime where required.
* Able to contribute towards an ‘on call’ rota during winter months when salt spreading is required.
