Summary


The Deputy Quality Manager is a key member of the Quality team within the NWAFT Pathology team assisting in the design, implementation, monitoring and development of the NWAFT pathology Quality Management System (QMS) so that regulatory and accreditation requirements are met.

The Deputy Quality Manager will work closely with the Pathology Quality Manager, Clinical leads, Pathology Service Manager and departmental leads and Quality Officers to ensure an effective delivery for the consolidation and harmonisation of quality across all the pathology disciplines.

The Deputy Quality Manager assists the Pathology Quality Manager and Clinical Support Services Lead in ensuring that the needs and requirements of service users are understood and that development of the service is in accordance with these needs.

The post holder will promote and develop a high quality, efficient and effective Quality Management System (QMS) and assist with the quality monitoring process using key performance indicators.

The deputy quality manager in liaison with the pathology disciplines quality officers, create and participate in departmental process audit calendars and monitor progress of the performance of these and of the actions required to address any nonconformities identified by these audits.



Main Duties & Responsibilities

To contribute to the design of the quality system and processes in line with Pathology Service Manager and Pathology Quality Manger design and strategy and in conjunction with Clinical strategy and Governance for pathology.

To assist in the harmonisation of the quality aspects of the service to meet the needs and requirements of the service users.

To assist in the day-to-day operation of the quality aspects of the service, supporting departments in maintaining their area of the QMS and subsequent workflow to ensure compliance with the UKAS standards.

To participate in all aspects of quality, particularly where special expertise is required, with the ability to assist Departmental Leads, Operation Managers and Quality Officers to comply with standards of accreditation.

To comply with Policies and Procedures commensurate with the role.

Liaise with the Pathology Quality Manager to plan and organise complex activities across pathology, adjusting plans as necessary to meet the changing needs of the service and addressing any conflict issues that may arise as a consequence of the plans.

Deputise for the Pathology Quality Manager in responding to Freedom of Information (FOI) requests.

Deputise for the Pathology Quality Manager in monitoring and providing trend analysis of Datix incidents pertaining to pathology.
