Summary

Band 5 – full time fixed term - 12 months

This exciting new collaborative post is between Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust and Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West Integrated Care Board (BOB ICB). This commissioner-provider project has been funded by NHS England South East Region with ambition to improve prescribing of Oral Nutrition Supplements (ONS) and quality of patient care.

The project is likely to attract a lot of interest both nationally and locally and we would hope to publish the results so it would be a fantastic start to a career in dietetics.

We are looking for a motivated Dietitian with experience of nutrition support dietetics and an interest in appropriate ONS prescribing to make a positive impact on patient transition from hospital to home.

You will be part of the acute dietetic team at the Royal Berkshire Hospital and receive clinical supervision from the Prescribing Dietetic Advisors in the Medicines Optimisation Team of BOB ICB.

You will be directly working with a clinical lead dietitian to support delivery of this project.
• To participate in a pilot project to ensure patients commenced on ONS during hospital admission but have not met the threshold to receive dietetic input during their admission are reviewed prior to discharge to assess if ONS is needed.
• Help to implement the project by working with the RBH dietetic team, pharmacy team, wards and stakeholders throughout whole organisation.
• Collate outcome data to provide a monthly project report to the BOB MOT team.
• To plan and supervise education and training to ward staff, pharmacists and junior doctors on malnutrition identification and management and raise awareness of food-based interventions that are suitable for home.
