Summary

We are recruiting for an Accounts Assistant on behalf of a Ledbury based Accountancy Practice that offers an Accountancy and Taxation service to a wide range of clients across Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire. On offer is a permanent job paying between £28,000 and £32,000 a year (negotiable based on experience) and comes with the added bonus of secure onsite parking.

They work with a wide range of clients that include sub-contractors, sole traders, retailers, builders and tradespeople through to large manufacturing companies for whom they offer a full accountancy (annual accounts, book keeping, payroll, management accounts, budgeting and forecasting, product and service costing) and an income and corporation tax service (VAT, personal income tax, business income tax and corporation tax).

Their clients all have their own way of keeping records that ranges from keeping everything in a folder, bag or box, an excel sheet or of using accounting software such as Xero, Sage etc.,

The team fully support their clients no matter how records are kept and handed over. As such this role is best suited to someone who has either worked within a similar role, has had related experience or would enjoy being part of a team that offers this type of service.

As well as offering the accounting and taxation services you will also be reviewing how your clients businesses are running and will need to spot the oddities, ask the questions, understand the reasons and advise accordingly. This could be a spend for something that does not look like a business expense, understanding a large financial loss on an invoice or simply picking up where costs have been coded incorrectly and correcting those.

As the Accounts Assistant you will be:

Preparing draft accounts to final review stage for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
Liaising with clients which will include advising them on accounting systems and processes.
Using Accounting software, ensuring all office and accounting procedures are followed and resolving client queries over the phone, by email or face to face.

Alongside the above if you have the following experience that would be useful (if not then you just need to be happy to be trained):

Preparation of draft Personal Tax computations and returns.
Preparation of draft Corporation Tax computations and returns.

To be considered as the Accounts Assistant you will need:

A good understanding or Fixed Assets, Depreciation, Prepayments, Accruals, Deferred Income, VAT and PAYE.
Be AAT or Part ACCA Qualified.
To be a good relationship builder and a team player with strong organisational and time management skills who enjoys working with and supporting a diverse range of clients and business sizes.
