Summary


The OPRAC/Frailty department at London North West Healthcare, Ealing Hospital, consists of a multidisciplinary team comprising of Consultants and their teams, Lead Nurse and Staff nurses,

We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring, motivated, calm, responsible and professional Health Support Worker with phlebotomy skills, excellent communication skills to work in our busy OPRAC/Frailty out patient' s clinic . The post is full Time - 37.5 hours per week working 4 days a week 0800-1800 hrs.

The role of the Healthcare Support Worker is to provide support to the multidisciplinary team in OPRAC/SDEC/FRAILTY Clinic

The post holder will perform supervised / unsupervised high quality nursing care , housekeeping and clerical duties for which they have been successfully trained and are within their sphere of competence.

The post holder will also be able to perform NEWS observation and escalation to the nurse any deviations or high NEWS scores , ECG, Cannulation, and escalation of unwell patients.

Providing assistance with feeding as required and toileting, house keeping and clerical duties for which they have successfully trained and are within their sphere of competence

Collect blood samples through venipuncture in response to requests by clinicians in accordance with the protocol and procedure specified by the department of pathology.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide reassurance and support to patients and family/carers
• Provide information to enable the effectiveness of the patient journey through Outpatients.
• To support patients and relatives in distress, and to recognise when advice should be sort from qualified nursing or medical staff.
• Be able to locate all policies relating to good working practice within the clinical area and adhere to them
• Contribute to promotion of good health and participate in health education
• To maintain the confidentiality of information about patients, staff and health service business in accordance with Trust Confidentiality Policy and the Data Protection Act
• Assist in the maintenance of accurate record keeping.
• To assist patients and relatives and friends in arranging further investigations and procedures and in directing them to other departments
