Summary

A Vacancy at Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust.

Are you an experienced clinician looking for a new challenge and the opportunity to join a service at a time of exciting change?

Here at CNWL we encourage our psychological professions staff to pursue leadership opportunities in senior roles. Various prominent leadership roles within the Trust are currently held by Psychologists including: Director of Strategy and Integration, Chief Information Officer, & Clinical Directors. We facilitate the development of our psychological professions staff across all areas. The professional group is led by our Director of Therapies and our Chief Psychologist, both Consultant Clinical Psychologists.

We are looking for applications from highly motivated and enthusiastic psychologists and therapists who are committed to delivering patient-focused care and treatment. We are looking for well-rounded and experienced practitioners. Our staff work pro-actively, with confidence, motivation and initiative We find that they are often flexible, robust and resourceful and able to manage the challenges of working in an environment which can be demanding.

We prioritize collaboration within our team and with our community partnerships, so we are hoping to find candidates who have the required communication and interpersonal skills that will allow them to thrive when working within their own team and with external partner organizations, in order to provide a meaningful service to the diverse populations we serve.

Applicants will preferably have experience of working in both physical and mental health services, and be confident in their abilities to develop relationships and liaise effectively with senior staff in one Trust (Milton Keynes University Hospital) whilst being employed by another (CNWL). The role is varied and exciting, including service development, teaching, training and consultancy, as well as direct clinical work and supervision. There are a number of Quality Improvement projects ongoing within the team, and the option to develop projects into publications, some in conjunction with MKUH colleagues. The team hosts a number of nursing and paramedic students and takes doctoral trainees from the University of Oxford.

The team is a well functioning, psychologically minded group of individuals who strive to offer the best support for patients who present to A&E in mental health crisis; or who are on the wards in the hospital and whose care or discharge is complicated by mental health problems. As the name suggests there is a significant requirement for close liaison and working relationships with other parts of the mental health service, primary care, social care and the third sector to name a few.

Please note: The job description for this post is based on Band 8a competencies. However, newly qualified applicants will also be considered at Band 7 with a preceptorship period.
