Senior Mechanical Design Engineer required for a global manufacturer who are well known within their industry.
Candidates will be an experienced mechanical design engineer with a proven track record of using SolidWorks to create 3D designs. You will have a strong understanding of the product design lifecycle and can come from any industry background.
The successful Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for the mechanical design of products from concept, through the design process and onto production of manufacturing drawings. You will use SolidWorks to create 3D designs and models as well as 2D drawings for production.
You will be involved in the design of jigs and fixtures for manufacture and will be involved in obtaining tooling quotes. You will work on both customer and R&D projects, managing your own workload and producing regular progress reports.
Most of the products being designs will use plastic as a key material, however, you will also work with sheet metal and fabrication for larger projects. Whilst you will focus on mechanical design, you will also work closely with Electronic Engineers to integrate PCBs into the product. You will produce BOMs and ensure these align with both cost and product performance targets.
