Summary

Are you looking for a change, but worried you will become ‘de-skilled’ in a Community Hospital?

Here at Wokingham, we have two inpatient wards, caring for adults with a wide variety sub-acute medical and post-surgical conditions. Our patient cohort is referred from both acute and community setting. Without immediate access to acute investigations, we use multiple ‘Point of Care Testing’ systems to support the care of our patients.

Our diverse range of staff are skilled in appropriate management of patients, supporting them to remain in the community setting, whilst also escalating as appropriate to ensure their safety. We are looking for an experienced band 6 nurse to join our growing team to provide this continued level of care to our patients and to support, lead our staff and patients alike. BHFT actively encourages the development of our staff, and as a result our team of RNs have the opportunity to follow the career path suitable to them – this can be developing autonomous nursing skills, management skills, or supporting you to be the best Registered Nurse you can be. So, if you believe you have the skills for a band 6 lead nurse, then please apply.

The unit is based in Wokingham close to shops and public transport for easy commuting, and Wokingham Community Hospital staff are eligible for ‘fringe London weighting’ under agenda for change, which equates to an additional 5% of your basic NHS salary, and free staff parking on our Hospital site.
1. Work closely as part of the Multi-Disciplinary Team for the care of patients requiring medical and rehabilitation support, predominantly post an acute hospital stay.
2. Responsible for the assessment of care needs, development and implementation of patient centered care. Promoting independence and safe discharge home.
3. Lead in our Nurse led unit, especially during out of hours shifts.
4. Shift work and shift management, working with junior members of staff in all aspects of patient care, participating in training and support.
