Summary


Here at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust we are looking for an expereinced band 7 midwife to join our team. You will be accountable for patient safety and experience, including line management of the staff and to take responsibility for defined areas of the Maternity Service.

You will be responsible for delivering women and babies with high quality care ensuring appropriate systems and processes are in place to provide the continuity of safe and effective management at all times and work clinically across all areas of the maternity service.

You will have the opportunity to develop both their clinical and leadership skills. You will also work closely with the maternity management team and provide support to the midwifery and non-midwifery staff ensuring effective management of the daily activity.

It will be your duty to ensure that there is adequate and safe cover throughout the unit. Assist in implementing appropriate actions when resources are inadequate. Liaise with all agencies and disciplines to ensure continuity of care. Lead by example, demonstrating a proven record of sound leadership, management skills, courtesy and diplomacy, when dealing with colleagues and the general public.

• Act as a champion for professional accountability and standards, ensuring that professional practices are in line with the requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), and Trust Policy.
• Ensure effective line management of staff and ensure they are supported in performing to their full potential. Ensure junior staff have appropriate support and supervision and are appropriately assessed.
• Attend midwifery meetings and Band 7 meetings communicating content to team members.
• To ensure patient confidentiality is maintained at all times and that you comply with trust information governance guidance/policy.
• Ensure effective and transparent communication with patients, relatives, carers and staff, taking into consideration level of understanding, culture and background.
