Plant Operator required for a gas power project in South Wales
Role description
Be part of the commissioning team for a new gas power project in the UK, operating the plant under its commissioning phase, until successful handover to the customer. The scope of activities will be:
- Thorough understanding of plant mechanical and electrical systems and components and hands-on operation through DCS / PLC and any other applicable HMI and / or control system
- Aligns plant equipment; makes necessary adjustments to plant systems / equipment as directed by the Lead Plant Operator or leading commissioning team. Operates various manual valves and / or circuit breakers throughout the plant site.
- Troubleshoots plant equipment to resolve operational problem.
- Execute plant preservation and preventive maintenance, while keeping the appropriate records
- Monitors and records data available using various instruments, recording charts / graphs and other monitoring devices onto shift logs as directed by plant operational procedures.
- Follows safety / environmental rules and regulations. Implements project safe work practices and immediately identifies hazards and recommends and / or implements repairs.
- Understands and executes the equipment clearance (LOTO) procedure, as well as Job Safety Analysis / Work Authorisation / Confined Space / Hot Work Permits.
- Provide theoretical and practical training to customer personnel and operators.
- Report to the Lead Plant Operator, the Commissioning Manager, and the Head of Commissioning where necessary
Requirements
- At least 2-5 years working experience in operation of large power stations with demonstrable experience.
- HNC/HND in Mechanical/Process/Electrical engineering is preferred.
- Strong team spirit, working with an international team and other cultures.
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong Organizational skills
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office
- Fluent spoken and written English
