Summary

Do you have existing knowledge of import and export processes, looking for your next step? We have an exciting new opportunity at Hillarys to join our Supply Chain team as Import & Export Specialist, based at our head office site in Colwick, Nottingham. This role is hybrid, with three days in the office and two working from home.

Hillarys are part of Hunter Douglas UK, so as Import & Export Specialist, you’ll be responsible for ensuring all of our processes for manufacturing and selling are fully compliant with customs regulations. There may also be opportunities to support Customs for other brands within the HD group.

A clear and confident communicator, you’ll work with various teams from Manufacturing to Warehouse, and Finance to Sales and Marketing, so you’ll have a real opportunity to influence key stakeholders across the business. You’ll be responsible for educating people and functions on the correct process and their accountabilities.

You will be responsible for the import and export process from start to finish, ensuring our processes and products are fully compliant with UK, EU and ROW customs regulations. You’ll have strong financial acumen, high accuracy and excellent technical knowledge, as you’ll be maintaining and updating commodity code classification of various product lines with the applicable UK & EU Trade Tariff in line with Customs Compliance Policy.

Experience of working and developing relationships with HMRC will be beneficial as you will need to identify areas of risk and understand how to resolve any queries.

You will also be responsible for managing relationships with Freight Forwarders and Customs Intermediaries ensuring that customs entries are completed in line with the clearance instructions and the Customs Compliance Policy. Working alongside the Customs and Inbound team, you will create shipping documents and maintain import and exports logs and document files.

You’ll have experience with import and export customs rules, understand the cross-border flow of goods and a possess proactive approach to finding opportunities for process improvement. Knowledge of CDS, SAP or an equivalent ERP system is preferable for this role, and you’ll need to be confident using Microsoft Office applications.
