Summary


We are looking for a full-time Theatre secretary to join our friendly Theatre and Peri-op department at The Royal London Hospital.

This is a key role in supporting both the medical, nursing, and wider multidisciplinary team to ensure that administrative processes for the patient pathway meets the quality standards required both nationally & within the directorate and are adhered to.

The successful candidate will work closely with the line manager and multidisciplinary team to ensure the smooth running of the office. Candidates will need to have an excellent working knowledge of medical terminology, Microsoft office applications & Cerner Millennium.

The post holder should have excellent interpersonal & communication skills as you will be dealing with sensitive telephone calls, emails, and face to face interactions from a variety of staff, other professional bodies, and stakeholders.

You will be required to manage a busy theatre schedule involving specialties across the hospital. You will also be supporting local departmental meetings. The administrator will also be required to prioritise and organise their own workloads to meet deadlines.

The principal purpose of this post is to provide effective administrative support to the senior clinical and management team within Theatres at The Royal London Hospital. This will include supporting the clinical director, named clinical lead, service manager and matron to fulfil their roles.

In summary the post holder will:
• Be a key contact in providing support with managing a complex theatre schedule.
• Managing patient pathways and ensuring correct validation
• Planning next events to and supporting service in preventing breaches
• Manage the implementation of SOPs, admin systems, admin service improvements including new technology for the service
• Ensure quality of admin services provided to patients and staff by the admin team
• Resolve problems, escalating to service manager where necessary.
• Implement suitable cross cover arrangements
• Undertake PA function to some of the clinical team
• Undertake patient care co-ordinator/patient pathway coordinator functions as part of admin team
