We are looking for an enthusiastic team player to join our Culture and Events Team and help run the Council’s popular culture and events programme.
The right candidate will work with colleagues to design, plan, promote and deliver community focused outdoor events and cultural activities including our flagship event, The Hemlock Happening, as well as Play Days and Christmas Lights Switch Ons. You will also work with community and voluntary groups to showcase the Borough’s wider cultural activity.

You will need to be someone with great organisational, communication and relationship building skills who is able to engage with the local community, voluntary and statutory bodies, suppliers, artists, performers and council members.

Working within a close knit team, you will contribute to ensuring that targets are achieved and that the events are delivered safely. You will be someone who is proactive in supporting colleagues, has a great attention to detail, can work well under pressure to meet deadlines and can retain a sense of humour on long event days in all types of weather.

You should have a relevant event management qualification e.g. degree or relevant, practical experience of planning, delivering and evaluating events.

We’re looking for an individual who has experience in:
• Event and project management
• Event design, planning, delivery and evaluation
• Managing budgets
• Negotiating with artists and contractors
• Assessing risk as part of health and safety relating to events
• Building relationships with a variety of stakeholders

The ideal candidate would:
• Be highly motivated, organised and able to work under pressure to meet multiple, conflicting deadlines
• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Be a team player
• Work on their own initiative
• Be forward thinking, flexible and bring new ideas to the team
• Be a quick learner
• Be prepared to work outside of normal office hours including evenings, weekends and public holidays to support events and culture activity when required
• Be able to meet the demands of the post, working outdoors in all weathers, transporting and setting up of equipment
