Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our varied and well-established mixed preceptorship rotation. These posts are open tonew graduates, those due to qualify soon, Occupational therapists wanting to return to practice and more experienced Occupational Therapists who want to broaden their clinical skills in a variety of specialties.

We are looking for highly motivated applicants with excellent communication skills and a drive for clinical excellence. The rotation facilitates the development of skills and competencies beyond graduate level in a variety of clinical specialties, both physical and mental health. These include:
• Community Neuro Rehabilitation - based in Brighton General Hospital covering Brighton and Hove, or in Newhaven Rehabilitation Centre covering the High Weald, Lewes and Havens areas.
• Working Age Mental Health - acute inpatient service based at Millview Hospital in Hove.
• Paediatrics - based at Seaside View Child Development Centre at Brighton General Hospital.
• Community Therapy Hubs - providing rehabilitation in people’s homes, with teams based at either Brighton General Hospital or Hove Polyclinic.
• Inpatient Rehabilitation Services - based at Lewes Intermediate Care Unit and Kleinwort Intermediate Care Unit in Haywards Heath.
• Urgent Community Response Service High Weald, Lewes and Havens areas.
• Adult Social Care Reablement Service based in Craven Vale Resource Centre Brighton

Each rotation lasts either six months or a year; you will be given a supervised caseload, and provided with a robust support system of clinical supervision, preceptorship, a personal development plan, and opportunities for training. The rotational scheme works in partnership with Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, and Brighton and Hove County Council but throughout your time on rotation you will be employed by Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust.

Within each rotation you will hold a caseload for which you will provide client centred assessment, treatment planning, goals setting and evaluation.

You will work as a key member of a multi-professional team including support staff.

You will will write thorough and timely documentation.

You will contribute to the smooth running of your service.

To work as a therapist/ allied health professional within a team or as part of a rotation in Sussex Community Foundation Trust.

To manage a caseload of patients with a variety of conditions.

To formulate and deliver an individual treatment programme based on a sound knowledge of evidence-based practice and treatment options using clinical assessment and reasoning skills.

To treat all patients with respect and courtesy, maintaining dignity and respecting individual needs and differences, both physical and cultural.

To complete the SCFT Preceptorship programme through regular supervision and professional support (staff in their first year post-qualification).

To be involved in the support of Band 2, 3 and 4 staff as well as student education.

To take part in and contribute to in-service training and keep your own personal development plans up to date.
