Gi Pro are delighted to be partnering with an employee owned manufacturing company. As part of their strategic growth and continued investment, they are looking to recruit a Health & Safety Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to join a business where you will be able to run the Health & Safety department autonomously and introduce changes to benefit the business. There may be occasional travel to the other sites in Worcestershire and Northamptonshire (once a month).

THE ROLE:

As a Health & Safety Officer you will be required to:

  • Work to ISO ISO 45001 (OHSAS 18001)
  • Maintain and update systems
  • Create clear Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Champion Health & Safety on site and actively promote a safety culture
  • Carry out risk assessments and putting counter measures in place to prevent accidents
  • Educate Line Managers to take responsibility and ownership of their own Health & Safety
  • Carrying out Health & Safety inductions for all new starters
  • Cary out regular spot checks to ensure Health & Safety policies are being adhered to
  • Investigate accidents, identify the cause and ensure remedial actions are implemented
  • Create a record of accidents with statistics and correlations
  • Produce environmental related plans
  • Implement project waste management plans
  • Keep up to date with new legislation company and other safety information and brief the management team accordingly

THE CANDIDATE:

The ideal Health & Safety Officer:

  • NEBOSH and/or IOSH
  • Working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation
  • Previously worked in a similar role
  • Background working in a fish processing environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate and engage with people across all levels
  • A dynamic personality with the attitude to always do better
  • The ability to work autonomously
