Saint Mary's Managed Clinical service are looking for a dynamic, highly motivated and committed senior nurse or operating department practitioner. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Matron for Theatres and Pre-operative assessment services. This role will cover Saint Mary's emergency and elective Obstetric theatres and elective Gynaecology theatres at Oxford Road Campus, as well as Gynaecology Pre-operative Assessment clinic.

We are looking for an innovative and enthusiastic individual experienced and passionate about delivering efficiencies and a high standard of patient care in the theatre and pre-operative clinic environment, providing leadership and strategic direction in these areas.

To undertake this role you will need to have extensive experience of leading and managing theatre teams . You will have excellent organisation and interpersonal skills and demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively with surgeons, anaesthetists, all members of theatre and pre-operative teams and divisional colleagues. A proven track record of problem solving to complex issues and situations as well as flexibilty in approach are essential for this role.

Informal visits are welcomed.

Provide clinical and professional leadership to Obstetric and Gynaecology Theatres and Pre-operative Assessment clinic by setting, monitoring and maintaining professional standards. Reporting to the Lead Nurse, the post holder will ensure the key functions of the Matron are undertaken to ensure high quality care for patients undergoing pre-operative assessment and surgery.

The day-to-day management of both emergency and obstetric theatres, gynaecology theatres and pre-operative assessment clinics, taking into consideration the allocation of staffing, operating lists and pre-operative clinic templates.

To provide a visible presence in theatres and pre-operative assessment services and be accessible to staff seeking information and senior advice. Be available to patients, carers, families and visitors as required. To communicate with external agencies and departments as required, ensuring effective communication strategies are developed and maintained.
