Our finance team’s within Bourne Leisure’s – Haven & Warner is excited to offer numerous outstanding opportunities for students majoring in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or Mathematics to embark on a one-year placement with us as part of your university sandwich degree program.

This presents an exceptional chance to acquire firsthand finance experience within a large, multifaceted organisation. The role is ideally suited for students seeking to gain insight into the operations of a finance department in a bustling work environment.

Additionally, this is a hybrid opportunity, with an expectation to work from our Head Office in Hemel Hempstead three days a week, while the remainder of the time can be spent working remotely from home.

Please note, this is a Placement Year for those studying an Undergraduate degree only. We will not pursue applications for those who are studying a Postgraduate degree (Masters).

Your Opportunity:
To learn, develop and become an expert in a key area of the business by:

- Producing a suite of weekly reports for distribution across the business
- Posting ledger entries into the accounting system
- Reconciliation of P&L cost lines, ensuring accruals and prepayments are entered when required
- Allocation of accrual entries to maintain a clean and tidy list of transactions for analysis
- Being involved in Annual Budget and quarterly forecasting
- Supporting in various exciting projects when short-term goals are set
- Providing analytical and financial support to Regional Accountants
- Developing relationships with Operations Directors in sending and explaining reports. Guiding their focus to the correct place
- Undertaking Ad hoc reporting, analysis, and accounting entries
- Undertaking Ad hoc support for the Haven HODs on park answering queries received over email and phone.

What we’d like you to bring:
- Learns through ‘experience’ and is questionable and inquisitive
- Microsoft Excel skills
- With training, the ability to grasp new online systems
- Excellent communication and listening skills
- Excellent organisation skills
- Accurate and attention to detail
- Ability to work successfully within a team environment in addition to working well alone
- A level grades of B and above preferably in numerical subjects
- Studying a Business/Economics/Mathematics/Accounting type degree
- Ability to prioritise tasks for deadlines to be hit
