Summary

A Vacancy at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust.


The children's outpatient's department is a dedicated unit catering for children from newborn to 16 years of age across a wide range of specialities including: general paediatrics, cardiology, respiratory, endocrine and allergy.

We work as part of a wide multi-disciplinary team including healthcare assistants, nurse specialists, nurse educators, dieticians, physiotherapists and medical staff.

• To ensure that their clinical practice, and that of other staff on shift, is of a safe standard and in accordance with the unit policies.
• To advise and lead on nursing issues and resources available to maintain service provision and ensure patients receive optimum care.
• To meet regularly with the Children’s Outpatients Manager to assess effectively the service’s role and activity within the division and wider Trust.
• To identify children at risk and initiate child protection procedures.
• To provide expert advice and support for all junior members of staff and colleagues, including for nursing emergencies within the Trust.
• To maintain personal clinical expertise through clinical practice and mandatory training.
• To lead on OPA process’ and increase the nurse-led service provision including pre-operative assessments.
