Summary

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm – 37.5 hours a week
Annual Leave: 25 Days per annum, plus your Birthday off and all Bank holidays!

EHSL is a non-profit provider of supported housing to people with various support needs, including learning disabilities, mental health issues, autism, and other health and social care-related needs. Services are located predominantly in London and surrounding counties, although the organisation also has services in the East and West Midlands, the East of England, Berkshire, Gloucestershire, Yorkshire and Wales.

About the role:

We are looking for an experienced Housing Professional who can demonstrate a strong commitment to meeting customer needs and delivering a high standard of housing management at all times. You will have experience in working in a housing environment, effectively maintaining records on digital systems, and have knowledge of applicable housing law. You will be an effective communicator who is able to prioritise tasks and ensure matters are followed through to resolution.
You will provide an enhanced housing and Income management service to vulnerable adults with learning disabilities, mental ill health, physical disabilities or who are on the autistic spectrum, within supported housing accommodation.
You will spend part of your week working from the office and the rest will be spent visiting our properties and tenants on a regular basis. You will also work from home on Fridays.

Specific responsibilities:

- Executing of tenancy agreements and license agreements for new and renewing tenants.

- Conducting the new tenant sign-up process.

- Supporting tenants to prepare a completed Housing Benefit application form, collating all supporting documentary evidence required.

- Assist tenants to apply for council tax exemptions.

- Proactively manage and take ownership of Tenant arrears cases on your patch to help achieve our target Rent Collection Rates of 99%

- Providing advice and assistance to tenants in connection with ability to adhere to their tenancy agreement and manage their tenant arrears.

- Liaison with EHSL’s care operator partners and other stakeholders with regard to queries and issues relating to the accommodation provided by EHSL.

- Maintaining a record of contact with tenants and other stakeholders.

- Identification and early stage intervention and remedy of tenancy breaches and antisocial behaviour.

- Undertaking property visits, inspections and routine checks as required and as per agreed timescales and schedule, recording actions and outcomes accordingly.

- Provision of tenancy sustainment services, which comprise short term intervention aimed at helping individual tenants to resolve whatever issues are threatening their tenancy, such as rent arrears, hoarding, antisocial behaviour and un-met support needs.

- Recording repair requests onto EHSL’s property management software, ensuring that notes are kept up to date and jobs are closed off once completed.

- Working with other teams and undertaking project work to meet the needs of the business.

- Undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required in order to meet the changing needs of the organisation

Skills, knowledge and experience:

- Working in a housing environment for at least 12 months
- Full driving license and use of own vehicle.
- Experience with MS Office
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- A working knowledge of the housing sector
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Proactive and flexible approach
