This opening assignment is for 11 months

Contribute to and apply the Council’s strategy to support vulnerable children and families, with a priority including migrant children. Ensure service is delivered in line with Oxfordshire’s principles and values of working with partners, children, and families.
Key Responsibilities


Act as a named link worker to schools/Early Years Settings and health settings within a locality. Offering advice and support on delivering Early Help and improving outcomes for children and their families via regular visits/review meetings.
Provide named conversations to locality settings/partners to discuss Strengths & Needs, Team Around Family Meetings, and give information on other supports in the community for a particular child/ren
Review all received Strengths & Needs from partners to ensure SMART outcomes for child(ren) – offering advice/resource suggestions at point of contact
Develop a good understanding of the services provided within the locality, including schools, health services, support groups and activities available to children, young people and families.
Develop and maintain a network of professionals from services that support children, young people and families. Leading on Community Around the School/Setting meetings when needed to ensure contextual safeguarding approaches in place within the locality.
Facilitate regular communication between professionals which enables vulnerable children and young people to be identified and support Working Together to Safeguard Children and Early Help processes within the locality
Support professionals to complete Strengths & Needs where appropriate, including the provision of advice and attendance at meetings where appropriate
Support professionals with their initial Strengths & Needs and Team Around the Family meetings where support is required around plans/suggestions of resources
Provide support to Lead Professionals, including the provision of advice and attendance at complex Team Around the Family meetings to ensure robust plans in place for children at Early Help community level
Escalate appropriate safeguarding concerns into the MASH.

Qualifications:


Professional Qualification at Level 4 or above (e.g. NVQ 4, BTEC prof award, BA Degree, HNC etc.) in a relevant Subject field and/or practice experience.

Knowledge:


Knowledge and understanding of outcome frameworks.
Good working knowledge of appropriate legislation.
Knowledge understanding and ability to apply the thresholds of needs matrix and referral pathways.
Knowledge and experience of Early Help – Early Help Assessment/Team Around the Family processes.

Experience:


Practice experience to be a minimum of 3 years and demonstrates relevance to the post. Practice to have included working with children and families where there has been a requirement to assess levels of need and action appropriately. E.g. knowledge and application of safeguarding procedures for children and families.

Skills & Abilities:


Excellent writing skills including reports.
Excellent assessment skills.
Excellent communication and listening skills with peers, service users and wider partners.
Ability to make key safeguarding decisions to ensure children are safe and protected at all times.
Ability to communicate using appropriate styles, methods and timing to maximise understanding and impact.
Ability to develop positive relationships that promote reflective team working, and an open, motivating and inclusive culture.
