Interim EHC Officer - Education Health Care Service

Pay rate: Up to £307.69 per day PAYE depending on experience

Hours per week: 37 Monday to Friday, normal working hours

This opening assignment is for 3 months

City: NORTHAMPTON

Hybrid role, 2 days a week in the office

An EHC Officer is required to join the team and agree EHC needs assessments and issue EHC Plans.

Key responsibilities:

Make decisions to agree EHC needs assessments and issuing EHC Plans.
Attending formal mediation.
Manage a team of caseworkers and admin staff.
Make decisions based on annual review reports.
Liaise with schools and other professionals and parents.

Other “Essential Requirements” – Please check to ensure that your CV addresses the following items:

Experience:

Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
Experience in SEN and disability, either in education, social care or health.
Extensive experience of working with parents and families.
Extensive experience of multi-agency working, including chairing and leading multi-agency meetings.
Demonstrable experience of analysing information accurately to pull out key areas of need and strengths.



Knowledge:

Understanding of and commitment to person centred approaches, personalisation and the principles of key working.
Knowledge of related legislation including: Legislation governing Adult Social Care, the Children’s Act 1989&2004 and safeguarding processes; Education Act 1996; School admissions code 2014; Equality Act 2010; Care Act 2014.
Working knowledge and understanding of the Children and Families Act 2014, SEND Regulations 2015 and SEND Code of Practice 2014.



Skills & Abilities:

Ability to use information in order to draft EHC Plans which may be challenged within the court (First Tier Tribunal) arena.
Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
