Locum Consultant Psychiatrist in Eating Disorders
for Child and Young People

12 Months Fixed-Term , Full-Time 10PAs
(Part -Time applications welcomed)

This is a Fixed-term post for a Child and Young People Consultant Psychiatrist in Eating Disorders to join the CAMHS arm of the all age Vincent Square Eating Disorder Service.

The post holder will lead and develop the CAMHS ED intensive community treatment and integrated CAMHS/paediatric day programs. The latter is being developed in collaboration with Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and WLHT CAMHS ED community service.

The post holder will work alongside a newly recruited specialist MDT, supported by the well established CAMHS Community Eating Disorder team.

The post holder will provide psychiatric and medical assessment and management of children and young people with eating disorders receiving care in the intensive community and day patient programs. They will similarly contribute to the care of a small number of young people with medically unexplained symptoms who may benefit from the day patient treatment model. They will provide clinical leadership within the teams, and in liaison and collaborative working with partner organisations and other stakeholders.

Both CAMHS and Eating Disorder services have grown considerably over the last 7 years and very significant new investment is currently coming into services as part of the Long Term Plan.

Vincent Square ED Service is an all age Service with a vibrant and skilled multidisciplinary team working across a a variety of evidence based treatment pathways targeted to the specific needs of different groups of patients. You will have the opportunity to work with committed, innovative and compassionate colleagues, delivering high quality care and treatment at an exciting time of significant investment and expansion of services.

To provide clinical leadership within the ICT and Day Patient pathways.

To provide consultant responsibility for patient care within these pathways.

To diagnose patients with an ICD10 code at assessment and ensure that these are documented appropriately.

Participation in the weekly MDT meetings, providing leadership, supervision and consultation for the teams.

Consultation to other members of the multidisciplinary team regarding the management of risk.

To work with the team manager to manage flow of referrals, assessments and waiting list.

To provide comprehensive initial assessments for complex clients, which may sometimes require travel to paediatric wards in any of the NW London acute hospitals, or specialist ED inpatient units.

To provide psychiatric review and management of ICT and day patients.

Liaison input to ChelWest paediatric services.

Provide RC cover for ED patients on ChelWest paediatric wards.

To develop and sustain good working relationships and effective Junior Marsipan/MEED pathways with Paediatrics.

Accessing Tier 4 provision as clinically appropriate and reviewing the management and care of the young person during inpatient admission to ensure the most effective use of resources and appropriate early discharge.

To contribute to CPA meetings, as appropriate.

To contribute to MHA assessments as appropriate.

To support the maintenance of a psychologically minded, open clinic culture.

To regularly attend the weekly Staff Group, Continuing Professional Development sessions and Consultant meetings.

To manage, and provide training and psychiatric casework supervision for Psychiatry trainees seeking special interest sessions in the service.

To provide cross cover for Consultant Psychiatrist colleagues in the Eating Disorder Service.

To be an active member of the service line Senior Leadership Team.

To work along with other MDT colleagues to develop the CYP ED teams.

Participation in the development of new models of service to improve delivery and outcome, taking into account the views of commissioners, service users and evidence of best practice.

Participation in development of clinical protocols as required.

To maintain accurate and up to date clinical records.

To participate in the administration patient information systems and ensure that data are entered in accordance with service policies and guidance.

To contribute to collection and monitoring of Clinical Outcome data across the service.

To liaise with statutory and non-statutory sector agencies concerning the treatment and management of patients.

To ensure discharges are managed in accordance with service policies and guidance.

To complete and contribute to the completion of Serious Untoward Incident Reports as required.

To work in accordance with service policies and guidelines.

Maintaining up to date Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
