Clinical Fellow in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
40 Hours per week

We are seeking Clinical Fellows in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Candidates will be expected to have experience in both obstetrics and gynaecology. The post holders will be full time including participation in an on-all rota. The job plan will be based on the Terms and Conditions of the new Clinical Fellow contract.

The post holders will be clinically and educationally responsible to the Consultant team.

The post holders will predominately act as the first line of on-call and in clinic areas to provide support to the Consultants and middle grades. The post holders will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to sustain the provision of an efficient Obstetric and Gynaecology service to patients, including ensuring, in conjunction with colleagues, the highest quality of care is provided to each individual patient who attends the speciality and support the Obstetric and Gynaecology Department in meeting and delivering its local and national targets.

• To undertake to perform routine and on-call duties as set in the weekly rota and monthly timetable. To provide inpatient care for the patients admitted under the care of Obstetrics and Gynaecology department. The doctor will also be expected to perform on call duties.


• To also undertake occasional emergencies arising underunforeseen circumstancesat the request of the appropriate Consultant or senior and junior medical colleagues. It has been agreed, in accordance with the Secretary of State and the Department of Health that additional duties arising under this sub section will not persist for prolonged periods or be on a regular basis.


• Attendance is required, within the first month following appointment, at specific mandatory training sessions. The training programme is arranged at the Post Graduate Medical Centre, and details of times of sessions are circulated regularly to all departments involved.


• The post holder will be expected to participate in elective and emergency theatre sessions as well as attend outpatient clinics, as required and allocated within the rota.
