Summary


Lewisham NHS Talking Therapies (formerly IAPT) is a dynamic and innovative, primary care psychological therapies service; one of four Talking Therapies services delivered by South London and Maudsley (SL&M) NHS Foundation Trust.

The service is looking to recruit an experienced Relational therapist who will provide senior expertise within the Step 3 IAPT pathway and contribute to the planning and development of a high-quality mental health service to meet the needs of Lewisham service users, in line with the service specifications determined by commissioners. To take a lead in ensuring the service’s ability to deliver accessible and acceptable psychological therapies to local communities in Lewisham.

Senior therapists are experienced therapists who work closely with the clinical leads, playing a key role in supporting, inspiring and guiding the clinical work of staff, with a focus on continuing service improvement.

The service links with the IAPT training courses at King’s College/ Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (IoPPN); University College London and The University of Exeter. We also work with centres of clinical excellence and research innovation such as the Centre for Anxiety Disorders and Trauma (CADAT).

Our motivated staff have engaged with specialised training thus allowing us to offer CBT, CfD, EMDR, DIT, IPT and BCT. Considerable partnership work already exists with our community and we are pleased to hear from applicants who have areas of special interests or skills in leading on this work.

• To take a lead in ensuring the service’s ability to deliver accessible and acceptable psychological therapies to diverse local communities in Lewisham.
• To contribute to workforce planning for the service, including staff engagement, recruitment, professional appraisal and staff continuing professional development activities, promoting the active recruitment and development of staff from diverse backgrounds for the staff team to reflect the local communities.
• Key aspects of the role include the following:
• To support the clinical leads by sharing responsibility for the day to day running of the service.
• To promote the training and provision of IAPT specific other modalities within the relational therapies team such as IPT, DIT, Counselling for Depression and Couples Therapy for Depression.
• To provide clinical and managerial leadership to the specialist counselling team within the High Intensity Step 3 pathway.
• To provide high quality UKCP/BACP Counselling/IPT/DIT supervision and training.
• To carry out general line management tasks and focus upon supporting staff to meet performance targets.
