Summary

Following an internal promotion, we are keen to recruit an enthusiastic, forward-thinking pharmacist to continue to lead and develop clinical pharmacy services within our Older People’s Mental Health Services (OPMHS). The successful candidate will build on the excellent work that has been undertaken to date.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual with good communication skills and a keen interest in mental health who derives satisfaction from developing both the service and pharmacy colleagues. The applicant should be able to work well both in a team and autonomously.

The pharmacist will join a vibrant, expanding team. Building on the excellent pharmacy service with bases in the five main Trust sites, the team includes pharmacists dedicated to the MINT teams, CAMHS, perinatal and the Crisis Teams as well as OPMHS. There is a team focus on growth and development, including Clinical Diplomas, non-medical prescribing qualifications, consultant pharmacist accreditation and writing articles and posters for publication.

The successful candidate will lead and develop the clinical pharmacy services to the OPMHS, including the in-patient wards, the Specialist Older Adults’ Mental Health Services (SOAMHS) community teams and the Cognitive Impairment and Dementia (CIDS) services within the three boroughs of Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham and Hounslow.

The candidate will be supported by and will line manage a Band 7 Specialist Clinical Pharmacist and an OPMHS Band 5 pharmacy technician.

The candidate will provide training and development on medicines management in mental health, with a particular focus on older people’s mental health, to junior and trainee staff, including trainee pharmacists, pre-registration pharmacy technicians and visiting trainee pharmacists. The candidate will act as a practice supervisor, educational supervisor and/or designated supervisor to trainee staff as necessary and appropriate.

The candidate will work in collaboration with the rest of the West London NHS Trust pharmacy team to provide pharmacy services across the Trust.
